Shigeo Anzaï

Shigeo Anzai is a photographer who has been known for his work that captures actual scenes of artistic creation by contemporary artists. His photographs are highly recognized for their artistic quality as portraits that precisely depict the target artist's characteristics as well as for their historical value as art documents. The exhibition highlights this dual quality of Anzai's work as artistic expression as well as historical documentation, which synchronizes with the museum's course of action. By displaying approximately 3,000 pieces of personally-taken photographs that narrate the history of Japanese contemporary art, the museum aims to prove its commitment to actively introduce new artistic expressions as well as to present valuable artistic collections.
